I had been working on and off with Ron Barrett for two, maybe three, years when I came across a second hand copy of "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" and realized he was Ron Barrett.
The hours, hours, eight year old me spent staring at that book could've been better spent playing video games, sure. As an adult I have been able spend whole weekends playing "Shark! Shark!" and I have gotten to rub elbows with the guy that created the most memorable images of my childhood.
If you live long enough, everything comes to you.

I remember demanding this as a bedtime story every night for months (I was a bit younger) and writing at least two book reports on it.
Here's a forecast for you, though: Don't know if you already knew, but they're making a movie of this... I'm guessing it'll be a lot like all those Van Allsburgh movies.
I heard about the movie. I don't know if it'll ever get made -Ron sold "Politenessman" in the 90s and the languished.
Either way, I'm really happy that he sold the option at least.
