Another Day

Some people like to mark the new year as a beginning -as though a circle has a starting point.

Some of us find the gaudy reminder of time's passing to be a bullhorn shout of approaching mortality.

This year, its only five days short of the 70th anniversary of Amelia Earhart's declared death.

The new year reminds us that all great things, in time, become merely good. Even the giants -the dashing aviators, the heroic illustrators -all get shaky and lose control.

Given the time, all things become great again.
