Instead of Getting Grumpy

about idiotic clients, or clients who insist it takes longer to cut a check than it does to create 30 seconds of animation...

I think of Buddha (and good clients).

Good clients don't seem like "clients" at all, but collaborators. That's one reason why we enjoy documentary and feature work so much. We get to exchange ideas with people who tell stories, have ideas and know how to work as a team.

Boy, do I know what you mean. There was a reason I stepped away from commercials back in 1980. They pay late, give annoyingly unhelpful criticism and have you producing your worst work. My hat goes off to all those who do spots well.
Feature people seem to have a direction by the time the animator is brought in, and as long as you head in that direction things go well. What you swallow for the low budgets they offer is a sense of accomplishment all the while making something creative.
