Girls and Boys

 

Few artists cast a longer shadow over contemporary cartooning than Lynda Barry.
 
This is a book from Brian's collection from 1981 published by The Real Comet Press of Seattle.
 

Many people learned to draw cartoons from her.
 
Above the art, the writing and the ideas couldn't work in any other medium.

She instills a personal, "confessional" language to her comics which has the tone of high fiction: drawings as shorthand, words like poetry combined into literature.
