Nikola Tesla sent the first man made radio transmission right around the corner from our studio. He died just up the street at The New Yorker Hotel.The building where FM was born in 1896 is now called the Radio Wave Building in his honor, although it was the Gerlach Hotel at the time.
He lived there from 1895 until 1899 when the building ran into some finance issues. This prompted the scientist's move to Colorado. Interestingly, the principle player in the foreclosure was J. Pierpont Morgan who was Tesla's financier during his time out West.One block away from the Radio Wave Building:
